What is the "Stadtkapelle Dachau"?

The Stadtkapelle Dachau is a wind orchestra and was founded in 1997 in the old part of the town Dachau. Directly translated, Stadtkapelle means a "municipal wind-orchestra" even if there's no such English term.

Who's playing with us ... ?

We are about 50 amateur musicians from all around the county Dachau and other neighbouring municipalities. We all love playing wind instruments and we're always looking for other musicians who share this enthusiasm with us. Have a look at our statistics ...

What kind of music do we play ?

We play a wide variety of music from classical works (eg. Light Cavalry - Suppé), film music (eg. Star Wars - John Williams), original works for concert bands (Jacob de Haan), musical themes (eg. Starlight Express ...) to latin, like SAMBA! A group of musicians attended a special course in samba and learned to play all those different samba-instruments like 'surdos' etc. Yes of course, we also play marches ;-) You might hear American marches (eg. "Black Granite") as well as typical Bavarian and German marches (eg. "Graf Zeppelin") from us. Listen ...

Where do we play ?

To get an idea of us you can visit our annual concert in the Castle Of Dachau. A very nice castle that's really worth a visit anyway. The annual concert is always between March and May and is our major event. Visit our timetable "Termine" and you are always up to date. Timetable ...

What do we look like ?

Besides the fact that we look like typical human beings ;-) we wear a special outfit. Since 2001 we perform in a variation of the original historic outfit that was worn in the late 19th century (about 1860) in and around the county. Look ...
